No bag in the world that's going to stop a bear from smelling your food. Animals depend on their smell for survival and nothing we can do to stop their detecting it. Drug smugglers have tried everything in the book and the dogs still sniff out their best efforts.

Bear container isn't going to stop them from smelling it either, just prevents them from getting it, which in turn causes them to lose interest and move onto an easier meal.

These bags have a proven history. Using these bags are better than not using them if you are in the backcountry and are protecting yourself. Hang your food away from campsite. Consider cooking away from your campsite. Store your food in bags that are more likely to deter predators, critters and bears. Spend a dollar and save your life.

I would go along with that. The bag reduces the odor, which may reduce the distance from which a bear can smell it. Putting the bag in a bear-resistant container will improve the situation. Putting the container in a bear-resistant box will improve it further. Most people would consider this redundant, but others wouldn't. Some people carry one knife, some carry three.

No matter what you choose to do, as long as you do SOMETHING, and aren't the only other person around, the chances are reasonably good that a bear will go to the most-odiferous sources before he comes to you. You're not going to eliminate the odor, you just have to reduce it enough so you're not issuing an invitation.
