Been boondocking at Walnut Canyon and it was 98 (in the van) yesterday. No tall trees.

What, there are trees all over the place around that area. Pack up, move, find a tree. 96F here today. Is there any camping at all on the San Francisco Peaks?

On the north side of Humphrey Peak at 8500 feet. I don't think it hit 84 today, with a nice breeze it was quite comfortable all day. Saw about 85 inside the van when the sun was overhead.

The only thing near 80 degrees here at Lake Powell in the last 24 hours was the water temperature. Lake Havasu City was 120 degrees today I understand. I stayed in buildings with AC all but a few hours today and those were in the shade with a fan. Late night swim with a fan, a lay back lawn chair, cooler and a bug net hung over it not so bad even if it is still in the 90’s.

We are near Belmont and yeah it was warm yesterday but I didn't think it was that warm. I do agree that there are not that many big trees in Walnut canyon and you will likely find someone under the ones that are.

Appears so. I've poking around on the usfs site some more and will stop by the district office tomorrow.

I drove down to Greer a couple of days ago just to get out. While I was there in the middle of the day my car indicator said 73*. It said 99* back in Payson. Not much free boondocking in the area, although campendium and freecampsites.net show a few. Two forest service campgrounds that looked nice. Not sure the elevation down in the White Moumtains. Of southeast AZ but it seems high enough.

That area in eastern AZ looks darn good right now. Highs in the 80s in Alpine, and similar in Springerville. I see the elevation in Alpine is 8000' and S'ville is 7000'. Three winters ago in February, I stayed in the nice Houston Mesa CG just north of Payson. It's a nice small town. It was 24F at night, lol.

Yeah I was in that area 2 weeks ago after driving up from Sierra Vista.  I decided to go over to NM and check out the Dark Sky Cosmic CG. It was cloudy all night....

Then stayed at Pueblo Park and had the whole place to myself for 3 days. Most of the NM CGs were (are?) closed but you could disperse at some.
