Greetings.

I've had more vans throughout the years than cars. I presently have a 98 e150 Club Wagon and an 85 VW poptop Weekender.

Five more years of work or so and it'll be time for extended traveling. I like the simpler style of van camping vs larger RV's but won't disallow a Class C when I hit it big.

I am a member with a VW van camping group. We have about five annual GTG's. The rest of the month(s) are shout out type gatherings. I try to camp at least once a month. I live in a climate that is very user friendly to year round camping.

We're located in Nor Cal about an hour east of SF. I'll spend some time reading the numerous threads and will chime in where I can.

Its good to see sites like this. It's good to be surrounded by like minded peoples. It's good to own a van.

Peace, Regis

Welcome to the CRVL forums, Regis! Thanks for the pictures. Lucky you! Two camping vehicles! I'm a big fan of the VWs but don't see me owning one, again.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Thanks for the warm welcome(s). There is a lot of reading ahead of me.
I'll check out the Tips and Tricks first off.

The tent trailer is gone about a year now. The Ford is a Sportsmobile DIY in the making. The VW is the hobby car.

Is that a tarp tent setup that you made? Or is that something you bought? Am investigate large tarp coverage set ups and that picture looks great.

The shade tarps thingy(s) have been a seven year work in progress.
When I use the camo poly tarp ( 15 x 30 ) , it can use ropes and poles or a tubular structure I sometimes build.
I also have a ( 15 x 30 ) fabric Renn Faire style tent that is fashioned from the original Dragonwing tent.
I had mine sewed from Welldressedtents in colorado.
Pictures are worth many words so here is a coupla links. The rope and poles use 7' side poles and 10' center poles.
The fabric tent uses the same.
I'm hoping that being a newbie here doesn't distract away from the gist of this site from posting a more camping type affair but all readers please keep in mind van dwelling is one of my passions.

The metal poles are 1" electrical conduit. I'm working on 2" diameter wood lodge poles for more panache.
