Hello all. I'm just at the "thinking about it" stage and researching potential vehicles online, figuring out a budget, etc. Thought I would join the forum because I know I will have questions. Many thanks to Bob (who I have been watching on Youtube for a while now) for creating this website, doing the vids and helping us help each other find our way. ~Shari :)

Hi! Bunch of us researching vehicles. I have used different camping and traveling kinds over the years and still trying to decide what I prefer most....

Hi Welcome aboard. I've done a decent amount of traveling via vehicle and making the decision still isn't any easier. Finally decided on buying a cargo trailer and converting it for my next round of traveling. Plenty of info here though for whatever you decide. We all love answering questions, so ask away.

LOL! Well, I did go over to the Money/Budget thread and post one, kind of specific about being on SSDI while full-timing. Honestly, I've been watching videos and reading blogs for over a year now. Everyone has done such a good job at sharing that I think I have a good handle on it. It's just down to having enough money to get what I need minimally and having a little emergency fund built up. There's no huge hurry. I have no ties, don't own a home or furniture. Sick of renting, so thought I'd give the road a go. Also realizing that most of the folks in my family were dead by 70 and I'm approaching 55 so I'd better get going. Ha! :)

I read your other post right after posting here .
No exp with SSDI except I started down that road and decided it wasn't worth the effort !!!
Fhhhheeeeeeewwwwwwww ! :p :p :p
Just took my SS and happy happy even if it's not much....... just got #14

If you're 62 or close to it, it's definitely not worth it. I just had a friend who did the same thing as you. I was 37 when I applied so it was my only route. One of the harder parts of deciding to hit the road is a) having chronic health issues to deal with apart from my disability and B) giving up the rental subsidy knowing that my health will get worse no matter what I do. On the other hand, living under the thumb of the government wears you down after a while, having them tell you where you can live, where/when you can move, what kind of place you can live in, etc. I don't have family/friends in a position to help should I fall on harder times. Well, anyway, I guess (like Bob said in one of his posts) you have to identify and face the fears holding you back. But I also don't want to do anything stupid. I wouldn't last five minutes on the street.

It probably depends on where the street is? ;)
