Hello!

We are 345 days away from freedom...it seems like forever, but at the same time so many things to do.

We already owned a 1990 Ford econoline van from raising and traveling with our 4, now all adult, children.  We are just in the beginning stages of building it for the first leg of our trip and then possibly upgrading to a new or making needed changes to it after a 6 month assessment.  The choices are overwhelming with electrical, bed, and kitchen choices.  We are going to keep it as simple as possible.

We will be traveling with 2 dogs, one super yippy and one very mellow dog.  We will be rehoming our 3 cats to our kids.

Unloading 20 years of “stuff and things” we’ve accumulated is terrifying.

We are so excited to see things we only dreamed of, do things we never thought possible and meet people from all walks of life following the same path to freedom.

By the way...how do you update your profile information? I’ve clicked around and can’t seem to get there.

Welcome HOneybug ya dadburn jaybird... :)
Don't know how tall you are but we went with a fullsize bed across the back of our '92 GMC and that fits us fine.. An Edgestar 43 12v fridge between the front seats is our grub box and a coleman campstove on the counter behind drivers seat heats it up. Get some boxes and layout different floor plans for a start, then as you say, re-evaluate after a few months. Good luck with your build and adventure... it will be here before you know it.

Thanks @bpdchief! I’m only 5’3” on a good day so for the sake of space saving we are going to build it horizontally in the back, at 5’9” he’ll have to not stretch out or lay a bit horizontally.

We got the floor in yesterday and will begin the bed and kitchen build later this week along with the scariest part...adding the maxxair fan.

We are doing a short 10 day trip to Colorado in September to test things out and should have most things in place with the exception of solar power...just an auxiliary battery for now...and no fridge since the dometic one we decided on is $700 and will we really need that?

Even though I had installed a few vents and fans in the past, cutting a hole in a perfectly good roof this time was scary... VERY EASY to do but still scary. LOL Enjoy your trip to CO and when you get back go to the appropriate page and tell us about it (please include pictures). Have fun!
