:D Hello,  I am very, very new at this.  I am 73, married.  Husband is 77.  We just bought a used Class C Thor Chateau Motorhome.  We just took our first trip of  4 days.It was great.  We had a fabulous time.  We tried out everything.  All worked well except Black Tank would not dump.  We are working that out.  Filled it with water and some sort of biodegradable material.  Will try to dump again in a few days.  I am thinking I may work into doing this permanently.  Taking next trip in about three weeks.  Thanks for having this Forum.  It is very helpful.

Welcome to the CRVL forums MontanaBella! Oh, the dreaded tower of poo! It may take a while to dissolve it but if you can't free it up RV repair shops can do a cleanout. Good luck!

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi MontanaBella & Co. and welcome to the forums. I hope you both have a great time with the RV. It's a great time to get out and about for a few days and enjoy the(hopefully) peacefulness. Best of luck to you both.

Hi, I too am on first rv and was not savvy before I bought it, fwiw, here's something I saved on this topic  that's been of value:

Most helpful comment in thread above for myself:
Shayne: “I worked as a Sales Rep years ago and Roebic was one of our products and I've had a lot of experience with it in  successful uses.     Go to the hardware store and get a bottle of ROEBIC Septic Cleaner K-57  and pour a half a Bottle in it along with about 5 gal of Tepid water drive it around then in the AM add a bag of Ice cubes  to the Black tank and drive it again a good distance.  By the time youj get home it shuld be all loosened up.  Been there done that. ...Roebic is enzymes and does clean septics, that have caked and hardened, up to 1000 gal so it certainly should losen that  small tank, even if you used the whole bottle. ….
When you do flush this out, you might want to treat it one more time when you store it again''
..............................

(Some say ice cubes make no difference, up to you, time and agitation needed)
(Aside, a general tip an experienced rver passed on to me:
On google, enter your question about anything, followed by the phrase “....rv forum”  or similarly, your question followed by the phrase “.....youtube”,   Either brings up a ton of helpful info.

Welcome MontanaBella - I hope I'll soon be able to spend some time in Montana! Congratulations on your new RV. I do not own an RV - I will be traveling in a van... so I have no experience with black tanks.
