Hello all. I am just getting started and do not intend to be on the road at this time. I am moving (about 95% accomplished) into my 40' Travel Supreme fifth wheel and am already enjoying the toned down life. I am still teaching adult education and plan to continue to for several more years unless I find a full-time position. My new home is in Auburn, AL.

My biggest fear are tornadoes but have found a few places to run in the event of that type of threat -- which, in Alabama, is often. However, I will not be dissuaded from my decision to cut expenses, bank a little money, and live a calmer life.

I am looking forward to learning things on here as well as, hopefully, have a few things to offer.
Hi Sparky!!!
Thanks for your reply--I see you are in VA--that is my favorite place in the world. Both of my parents grew up in Galax and I still have lots of relatives there.

Hopefully, this forum will give me a lot of new ideas and I will be able to share some as well.

As for the 40' fifth wheel. It is pretty big and I don't intend to move it for quite some time as I hope this teaching job continues for at least a few more years. It is quite freeing to become unfettered from so many 'things'. My little shih tzu, Gracie, and I are having a good time thus far.
Welcome! I'm relatively new to the forum myself. Every time I check in I learn something new. You won't be disappointed.

Welcome jdillard. There are many hours of good reading in here.

Hi Bob: I taught high school prior to teaching adults. I love my work and these adults are much more serious. A lot of times, high school students can't think past Saturday but adults know a little bit moreabout 'real' life. Great to see you and I am glad to have found this forum.

Janice

Wow Janice, I'm with Sparky, that is a very long trailer. You almost would need a commercial license to pull that thing! Well, good luck and welcome!

Welcome JD.

We love 5th wheels, but want to travel. Maybe in a few years we"ll settle down somewhere. Then a fifth wheel. Definately.

I still have friends up there, as I spent some time in the SW corner helping on a farm.
40 footer...yikes! I don't have the confidence to pull or drive something that big...yet

~SE

Yes, it is very long and very heavy. I bought it with the intention of living in it in a stationary place. If I move it, my son-in-law has his CDL and will move it for me. I don't have the guts or the knowledge to move it; however, I work for a community college and have talked with the instructor for the class about the possibility of learning how. I have a Ford 350, 7.3 powerstroke diesel, dually that I bought at the same time as the house. I may venture to learn how and may just depend on son-in-law. Still a very newbie. LOL

Hi jdillard, welcome. I'm a ( dam) Yankee that came to north Alabama as a volunteer after 4/27 and wound up staying.( I did already have ties to the south though, college in Montevallo, and my first marriage in Atlanta. ) Glad to have you on the forum.
