Hello everyone in two months my journey as a Nomad begins. I have been watching the YouTube videos for a while, gathering some knowledge and motivation needed to finally make this huge change in my life. I currently live in Wichita, KS and hope to make it to the 2019 RTR. I plan on heading south west, any advice on campsites en route to Arizona?

The amazing tool freecampsites.net has not only free campsites, but also a trip planner, if you're a planner ;-D

Welcome to the CRVL forums Lystrek! Are you planning on heading southwest in two months? It will still be very hot in the lower elevations so you may want to check the weather forecast before leaving. Hope to see you at the RTR!

Thanks rvwandering, I am checking for higher elevation areas, might head to Colorado first. I am completely new at this so all advice is appreciated.

I like this temperature map - https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap
Zoom in on a state that you plan on visiting and you can easily spot the higher elevation by the drop in temperature. Then you can search for campgrounds or boondocking in the area.

Freecampsites that Moxadox suggested is a good place to start -  https://freecampsites.net/
You can also try USACampgrounds - http://www.uscampgrounds.info/
 And Campendium - https://www.campendium.com/

I am checking out all the sites and apps, excellent tools to have. I agree it is a bit scary but I am sure that preparedness, research and knowledge acquisition will contribute to a positive experience. Good luck to you as well.
