Hello,

I've been following this site and the associated you tube videos for some time. I recently retired at the ripe age of 53 and I decided to take the plunge. I purchased my rig in Feb of 2016 and actually moved into it full time two weeks ago. I couldn't quite do the van life so I purchased a 26 foot travel trailer. I've gotten rid of 99.9% of my things and my house is on the market. I couldn't believe how much stuff I had! I had ten years worth of junk in the house and even more in an 11x20 storage unit. Much was sold and donated. I kicked out my son and gave much to him for his apartment. Funny, I kept telling my son that I was going to go mobile and to find his own place. He didn't believe I would actually do it. Then it hit him when I rolled up to the house with my rig in tow!

I was a little apprehensive but the more I thought about living mobile, the more I knew it was right for me. I want to see the country while I can and enjoy it. I also want to live under the radar of the government. I've taken a few short hops and loved it. My first trip I was in a Texas State park. There was no Cell service or Internet. At first, I thought I was going to have a stroke from not being connected but as the days went on, I found I could live without cell service and the internet. I'm in a local RV park until my home sells and I wrap a few things up. Once the house sells, I'm hitting the road. I can't make the Flagstaff  RTR in June 2016 but I will most definitely be in Quartzsite for the Jan 2017 RTR!

Welcome! I'm just down the road from you in Garwood!
living fulltime in a 16x8 Travel trailer while i work on a tiny cabin, then might get a van myself and rig it out (sadly, the TT is untitled and has issues)

Welcome, welcome! I spent 30+ years in Houston and plenty of time in Katy. Congrats on the lifestyle change and enjoy the view on the road.

Welcome to the CRVL forums dkh1020! The longer you live mobile the more you'll love it! Hope your house sells fast so that you can start seeing the country.

HEY, fellow Texan! Kudos to you for booting out the kid!! lol (I was stuck at home forever - HOMEschooling.. ugh)
I admire your tenacity. :)

I sometimes go to Katy (lived in the big H from 05 to 08) for Whole Foods and that 'big city girl feeling'! ;)

Enjoy your freedom, and welcome to the forum.!
