Hello:<br>I'm so new at this that I don't even have a van yet; my current transportation is a small 650cc motorcycle, I'm currently living in a place that's cold and snowy in the winter and would like to be able to follow the sun. I'm a maintenance tech (building and grounds).<br>Some questions I have are:<br>What do I use for an address?<br>What about a drivers liscense and vehicle tags?<br>Any and all responses are welcome.<br><br>

<P>Welcome! Stud53 beat me to it. <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"> Quite possibly your best bet. SD also has no state income tax, and low insurance rates&nbsp;which would be perfect for any American in a van! Now if only I could find somwething like that in Canada.... lol</P>

Here's another one which is owned an run by full timers ...&nbsp;<a href="http://www.americas-mailbox.com/" target="_blank">http://www.americas-mailbox.com/</a>
<div><br></div><div>Their cheapest plan is $99 a year and limited to 7 pieces of mail therein, which I'd have a hard time cutting down to. &nbsp; The vehicle registration is tempting, but I've already got mine in a Wyoming county which will send my renewal anywhere I specify, where my unlimited collection costs me $96 a year. &nbsp; How it is run by full-timers if they are full-timing?:)</div>

<div><br></div><div>Mobile phone and laptop? I can't imagine they have to tell their employees what they need to do every single day. How hard can that job be, it's just mail.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>
<div><br></div><div>Because it is physical mail, it requires the physical presence of those who run the business, which is difficult if they are not in proximity, as full-timers are unlikely to be. &nbsp;Anyone who handles another's legal documents probably has to be bonded, which is probably unusual and complicated for a full-timer, given the mentality of the average bonding agent.</div>

<div><br></div><div>There's no possible way for me to account for the owners whereabouts. I never met them so I'm not on a first name basis with them. Hell, I'm not even on a pet name basis with them.&nbsp; You asked and so I answered with my best guess. I'm not an employee of the company. nor even a customer.&nbsp;I really don't know if they're actively on the premises running the business or not. They do have a staff there.&nbsp;Give them a ring and find out where they are.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I'm not really interested, just curious about how a full timer would run a business that would have to have a fixed location. &nbsp;I've thought about having a mail forwarding business some day, but the fixed location keeps eluding me, every time I start my home:)</div>

<font face="Georgia" size="3">Welcome! Those same issues come up all the time, you'll find a ton of resources here. Looks like people have been really quick to point you towards the best web sites, so good luck and keep asking questions!<br><br>-Butternu</font><br>

<div><br></div><div>All the more reason to call them&nbsp;<img border="0" align="absmiddle" src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/wink.gif"></div>
<div><br></div><div>This, from their "about" page, explains it all, "<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 27px; ">Americas Mailbox is the only company in the country that is owned by a full time RVer that we know of." &nbsp;Ownership doesn't require the presence that running does.</span></div>

Sorry about that lamplighter. I nuked my unrelated posts and took the convo with vonu offline because it's got nothing to do with this thread nor fair to you.<div><br></div><div>Steve</div><div><br></div>
