Well, Im about to be a new van dweller as the place that I was living chose not to renew my lease because I was with Section 8 and they are phasing out Section 8 at this complex. :-/ Therefore my complex wouldnt renew my lease and I am stuck having to put all my things in storage and try to do this although Im not ready. I bought wood to make the bed but wasnt able to get to it before this happened so Im just kinda lost right now. After I put all my stuff in storage I will be heading out and hoping I can do this. I dont have solar or anything so its going to be rough for a while. Luckily my van is an extended E-350 and most all the seats are out of it but for one back bench seat of which I'm going to remove so I can have more room in there to fix it up where its halfway livable until I can afford to get the solor and other things I need to make this something I can live in comfortably. I have wanted to do this for a while now its just it came on unexptectedly because i was trying to save up to get solor first but cant even do that now. Its just I and my doggy, we are looking forward to a better life that we will have once things get straightened out and I get what I need so that we can live halfway decent in the van.

Welcome to the CRVL forums Linda...

Lot's a folks drive the E350, it's a great platform for sure and will no doubt serve you well..

Good Luck!

Welcome to the forum Linda. Hang in there... I know things will get better for you real soon.

Thanks so much, looking forward to living this new lifestyle, although its coming sooner than I thought lol.

Welcome.

Living without solar isn't a big deal. Inconvenient? Yes. But definitely do-able

I was lucky enough to get a section 8 after 3+ years full time. I’d urge you to keep it. I am still able to rubber tramp, though it takes most of my disposable income.

Hey hello and welcome what part of the country are you located? I am on the West AKA left Coast.

I agree. My apartment cost less per mouth and a storage unit of equal sqft. You are having to move under duress and that should move you to the top of the waiting list at any other building. Having no actual physical address opens up an entire new can of worms.

Im in Arizona, Phoenix area. Im debating right now whether to do this Van life or keep the Section 8 like another advised me lol, I may go ahead and keep it for now as I have a grandbaby I want to spend some time with and I need an apt to do that.

I may just do that as I have a grandbaby that I do want to spend time with and thats going to take me having a real place so I may put this off for a while yet. Least it will give me time to save up the money I wanted to, to build my van inside the way I want it for if I ever was to lose the Section 8 or something else, it always helps to have other options.

Many have started just camping in their vehicles and slowly upgrading.

Getting out on shorter trips can make this easier and can be a way of also exploring communities you can move to.

Section 8 maximums vary by county. I live in high rent high max community which also has poorer areas. I find that the mix of camping and home is best for my personal health.

Transferring a section 8 between counties is easy in Colorado, there is more of a process going to another state.
