Hi there.  I am in the process of restoring a 68 ford f100 and turning it into a vintage bugout vehicle for me, my wife, and son.  When it is completely restored I plan to drive route 66 from California to Chicago with my son.  I am sure there will be many more in between :)

Welcome to the CRVL forums Az68! Looks like a fun project! We'll all be eagerly waiting for updates and cheering you on.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Az,
You'll like it here because a bunch of the folks here will be breathing down your neck to see what you do with it mechanically. I think it is great that it is a project for you and your son.

Did you choose that vintage because of the usual bug-out reasons (ease of repair, possible EMP protection, etc.) or did you want a vintage proper for cruising 66?

Actually I just love classic vehicles.  So when I  paid off a new toyota I bought we got this for me to drive daily and fix as a little street rod After owning it a little while I decided to go another direction with it and turn it into a vintage bug out vehicle. That more suits us because we love to travel and explore. Today and I have about seven grand into the truck with the cost of buying it and making it reliable. We still have a long way to go but its going to be a lot of fun. I plan to start building the back bug out area within the next few months.

Welcome Az! That's a great looking truck you've got! Make sure to post more of it in the Trucks section. You've already got me drooling over it! I can't wait to see what you'll do with her. Cheers!
