The GadgetVan got new rubber today...WOO HOO!!
When I first got the van, it had 3 Firestone AT's and a Bridgestone LT. The Bridgestone was mounted on one of those black rims like on cop cars, the other three were stock rims in great shape. I went to a salvage yard and bought 2 more rims, 1 to replace the odd rim and 1 for my spare. The spare that came with it was a 17", 8 bolt, off a Ford.

I've always liked BFG All Terrain tires. I saw them a couple of weeks ago for $222 plus shipping, but that was more than I wanted to spend.
Last Friday night I saw them on Amazon for $184 each, free shipping. I needed a total of 5, so I ordered them and they arrived today.

I'm really happy. They drive awesome too.

Nice tires but I saw that title in this section and thought oh boy. lol

OOOPS! I had to think about it for a second when I read your reply. LOL!! I swear I didn't do it on purpose.

excellent choice of tires and a good price to boot. did you get any kind of road hazard with them? highdesertranger

I just ordered a set of Firestone destination LTs for my pickup.....they have good reviews, we shall see

I didn't get the Road Hazard, I'll drive careful and hope for the best. These are the newer version of the ones I used to run on my 3/4 Ford 4x4, they were great. These new KO2's have tread that comes around the edges, and the specs page at BFG claim they're a better tire all around. We'll see.

did you have to pay any tax or was it just $920.00 dropped at your door?
What did mounting and balancing cost?

It was kid of weird, I ordered 5 from Amazon, they came from 3 different places, and all arrived on the same UPS truck. There was some tax, the total was $1009.35.
Since I'm selling I'll the old tires, I didn't have to pay for tire disposal. Mounting was $12 per tire, balance was $13 per tire. $111 for everything including tax. This was for 4 tires only. One of the rims I bought at the salvage yard had bad paint. Maz, the car guy that's in the same building as my computer repair shop, painted it for me today. I'll have the spare mounted in a few days.

Maz, the painter wanted all of the tires that were on my van when I bought it. In exchange, he's going to paint & install a new front passenger side fender. The fender cost $139 and should be on in a few weeks. The bad fender has a tear and a bad dent which catches the door when you try and open it, making a terrible noise. I'll be glad to have that fixed.

That's always nice when you can make a trade.

For this van I bought the cheapest tires on Amazon I could find. They ended up being $73 each! I'm not keeping this van but someone will have some decent rubber when I get back from the desert!

Headache

I did that at Walmart with our pick up. Parked it and told them whatever the cheapest they had for it as I dropped off the key on the way in to the store. They have been fine even when it snows.

I have been reading reviews on tires, some say that the expensive tire is really good but only in the beginning. After that it's just okay for the rest of its life, a long one that you pay extra for. I have a set of Wrangler AT/S like that. The cheap tire wears out faster but at least you get that nice new tire feel and traction sooner.
