Hi!
I just recently discovered this group/ site while camping at the Grand Canyon.
I've been retired for a little over 6 years and basically have been living this lifestyle ever since. I guess I'll always regard myself as a 'newbie' because I've never met anyone in this lifestyle from whom I couldn't learn sumpin'... doubtful that I ever will!
Met some cool people during ( and after) the latest RTR.
Looking forward to meeting more of you great folks, and I'm gonna try real hard to be at the Quartzsite gathering this Winter.

Thx

Wei, in the daytime it's 'shiny rocks'.

Thanks, I'm seriously looking forward to that!

Hmmmmm put 'em together and you have...................................KISS

I haven't been signed on long myself but welcome! Been known to look for shiny rocks also. Most recently in April at Crater of Diamonds in AR. Would like to be there now but the high humidity and/or heat will have to drop before I go back.

Thanks Dennis, in the past I've dug crystals there and hope to do so again but I agree about heat and humidity!
Right now I'm camped at about 8,000' in the mountains N. Of Flagstaff Az( yep, that Flagstaff).
It's cool and pleasant here but not a lot of shiny rocks here

At this time of year cool and pleasant trumps digging in Arkansauna for me.  :D    How far north of Flagstaff?  Dispersed camping?

Arkansauna??? Now that's pfunnie!!
I'm only about 10 miles North of Flag.dispersed? You bet

Flagstaff area sounds good...and cool.  It's on my list of places to maybe spend some time in the hot months.

Oops! Sorry...
2000 GMC with camper.
Haven't made pics for awhile, will post some soon?

Yep, beats Lousyanna too. Yesterday around New Orleans where I live, it got up to 98 degrees at 70% humidity (85% humidity when it cooled off some). That gives a heat index or a "feels like" temp of 134 degrees! If you sit outside in the shade, you'll be drenched in sweat in about 5 minutes. Not fun at all.

Flagstaff is a great place to be in the summer. If I have everything done before summer ends I will head that way. Then go south to Quartzite as it cools down.

I understand exactly. I wintered on Padre Island near Corpus Christi. When the temp, and the humidity both hit 90 ( degrees and % humidity) in May I was outta there  !

I really enjoy Flagstaff, but only in the Summer, winter is away too cold here for my taste!
Quartzsite, if all goes well, is in my plans for late Fall and Winter too.
