Welcome to the CRVL Forums  

You're on the right track for getting started out.  

If you read my bio you can see how I got started out years ago.
I also have a couple of websites below which you may find helpful.
Remember you could put your first rig together with an older higher 
mileage rig for using on the week ends and staying within 30 to 50 
mile radius of home just to do some beginning camping and travel.

You could do this until then and you have plenty of time to look around 
for a deal on an older Van (or whatever) to do a simple build with.
