Welcome to the CRVL Forum !   :)

Glad to see some folks who are into "vintage" showing up.

A few years ago I was on a trip to Nashville, Tn and where I had pulled into a roadside rest
a middle aged woman pulled up with her older Father in a restored Vintage
Chevy Van that had been converted to a touring camper years ago.

I guess they saw me smiling at the rig as they pulled up.

Something like this one:

.....and were they ever proud of it.  She was so happy to open the side doors and show me the interior.  We swapped some stories about our rigs (I was driving a car on that trip) and then I moved on.   Does my heart good to see something vintage,  being loved, taken care of, operated, and enjoyed by those who preserve it.

It doesn't have anything to do with living on the road, but yesterday, an old convertible with a rumble seat made a left turn in front of me. I'm guessing a '32 Plymouth from the hood ornament. BEAUTIFUL condition! Three guys in it (all past 65 or 70), one in the rumble seat. I grinned and waved as they passed. They did the same.

And a couple of weeks ago, an old "Route 66" Corvette passed me. Red and white, of course.

Those old cars really brighten my day.

I love vintage stuff, cars, trucks, vans, bikes, tools, machine facilities, it's all so cool
unfortunately, aside fro a few vintage tools, I have nothing vintage except me

Welcome to the CRVL forums Vintagecycleguy!  I hope you share more about both your van and your bikes.  We love pictures.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome. I'm a 'willbe' in a few years. I am also in michigan-the upper peninsula. Have boondock space if you ever get up this way. My dad is restoring a couple mg midgets. I'm hoping I will get one as I'm the only one small enough to really use it. Nora

I guess I've been in the West too long. This is what I thought of when you wrote "mitten."

Welcome!

I grew up near Flint and was just there. I didn't have time to get me any smoked white fish, pickled bologna, Koegel hotdogs or any of my other favorites. I can get them online but it's not the same as getting them there.

Vintagecycleguy:

Welcome to CRVL. Good to have another mitten wearer here! I'm in Grand Rapids, but really enjoy the UP.

Good luck in your endeavors!

My stomping grounds were near the corner of Hill and Fenton Rds.  My younger brother would make a meal of pickled bologna and chocolate chip cookie dough.  Makes me queasy to think about it.  After my cousins moved to Georgia, we used to ship them frozen cases of Koegels.  I was back there recently as well.  What a sad sight most of Genesee county is.  The glory days are long gone. :s
