Greetings!

I'm new here and have spent a lot of time reading and learning from the forums. It's been very helpful.

I'm in Florida and new to dwelling in my car. It's been a rough transition and most of the time I still feel a little uneasy but knowledge is solving that issue.

I look forward to hearing from other vehicle dweller in Florida and learning about their experiences.

Hello lpavel!

Where abouts in Florida are you? I think you picked a good time of year for it...the heat is gone mostly and there's good sleeping to be had at night :)

Thank you all for the warm welcome.  ;)

Let me start off by saying I have always been a Floridian. Born in Pensacola, high school in Sarasota, and I've lived in St. Pete, Largo, Jacksonville, Starke, and now Gainesville. I did live in Ohio for 3 years where I realized I didn't know how to drive on the snow and ice.

Of course, since I was a military brat, military, military wife, and military mom I have lived in Missouri, California, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, North and South Carolina, and Alabama.

My area of operation is Alachua & Bradford Counties now. Basically, Gainesville proper east of the University. Everywhere in my daily routine is within a 5 mile radius or a short bus ride. I spend some weekends in Waldo & Starke.

Welcome. I hang mainly in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. This is a good time of year for van/car living. Not hot at all. Did you go to PHS? or EHS? or were you already gone before high school age?

I was gone before high school and graduated from Sarasota High. After graduation I went to Manatee Junior college which then became Manatee Community College and then became The State College of Florida. Then it was on to USF in Tampa/St Pete. It's odd living in Gator territory now.

I spent a lot of my adult life just taking random community college classes ~ mostly jewelry and metal arts, ceramics, etc. I love the community college tuition is cheap. Santa Fe here in Alachua County is about 107$ a credit hour and a 1 credit class will get you an ID and free access to the gym, showers, and free admission to their zoo as well as use of their library. They don't require a parking sticker and parking is free there. They seem to have a lot of vo-tech type classes as well.

This spring I will take a library skills class that is 1 credit.

What do you do during the day?

That's smart.  I've got to get back to college.
Here the parking is ~$3-5 / day.
Not sure about over nighting though.

Well I don't park at the community college over night. I'm sure security would question that. But they are open from 6 am to about 10 pm

Great ideas. I work or ride my bike when no gigs are lined up. I put on a lot of weight during my divorce and am now trying to take it off. I am also slowly doing the interior remodel as I decide what I do and don't want. I also fish and camp with the occasional hog hunt.

It came off when I started workin out 5 days / wk.

I’ve got to come to FL one of these days.
I love the fishing there !

Come on down! Not only is the fishing great, but the weather is mild in the winter. I'm thinking about heading north for the summer.

Welcome lpavalchak0204.  I am new here from Florida too :)
Ramblingvanman I went to EHS :)

Welcome lpavalchak0204. I'm new here and also from Florida (Cocoa/Vero Beach) but currently stuck in TN and hating it. Glad to see so many Floridians on here! I will be back down there soon if I don't get to make AZ this year.
