I give you the popup-camper-truck, or I think that's what you would call it. Tacky but clever to be sure, but I think I'd fold the popup tent down before driving.

I like it! I assume he has a forklift to get it up there. Hopefully they are not using water tanks and top heavy stuff, but as a big roof tent ready to sleep 6, and on a budget, I think it would work great!

Hardscrabble innovation at work, making do with what ya got when ya ain't got much.

When assembling my rig I mentally toyed with all types of combinations of flatbed truck and domicile, including this one but never on top of a ladder rack. However, that solves the orientation issue of a pop up camper on a flatbed.

My family had a 1960's Eldorado truck camper with a tall over the cab area that had enough room for sitting on a couch that was there with big windows and an intercom. It had to be close to 12' tall. This is close to being only the second two story camper I've seen on the road! Sure solves the problem of your tent camper blowing away in high wind as I've had that happen with me in it! Now if Harbor Freight only sold lifts that went that high!

It is an interesting idea, and one could make it look better, but I'm thinking of a fold-up/fold-down porch thing with a fold-out ladder stair situation to wherewith an awning on the popup one has a nice shaded veranda with an awesome view. You can buy used flatbed trucks like this, cheap, diesel, all over the place, and used popup trailer campers are affordable too. I know where there is a nice older Jayco, always garaged, in mint shape, rooftop A/C for $500 cash right now.

State of the art!!! Self-leveling... as long as you straddle the driveway apron. Lol! Still, there's a certain cool factor to it, and it looks like it just fit that lumber rack.
