What options are people using for wifi? Equipment? Data plans? I want something simple but I need the capability to work online from my van. Thanks!

Phone plans and stand alone hot spots are roughly comparable.

Whether or not a phone can be tethered is a major comparison point between plans.

As always marketing changes, it does seem that the big carriers are taking over the value market for themselves over resellers.

Thanks for the suggestions. I plan on working online at least 4 hours a day plus use my Roku. I have no idea how much data that eats up. Does anyone have a similar usage?

Visible can provide all the data you need for $25 a month on the party plan.

Tmobile is the best of the big three. 110.00 per month unlimited. I run over 200 of data per month using phone as hot spot. No one touches that. Not even close.. 4g

Best for you maybe, but no thanks on $110

Visible is unlimited for $25

Visible has unlimited data for 25 a month. I have used over 60 Gb in a month with no issues.

I have Straight Talk with a Galaxy S9 Unlimited costs me $59.14 with taxes. The only reason I stay with them and dont switch to Visible is they have deals to use other Networks towers that may get me connected when Visible would be on Roam as they are currently Verizon Only. I still get a Roam every once in awhile but it's infrequent.

I've had someone tell me Straight Talk throttles after 25 GB perhaps someone else could comment on their experience here. I have not experienced any throttling but I'm currently using using my phone in Southern Vermont and Upstate New York. No issues at all I used 50+GB last month of Data.

I've used 41.10 GB of data since and including, February 27th on Visible, so you figure about a week. I've gone over 150GB in a billing period. It's not always fast, but I'm not in a hurry. There were only two times in the past 11 months I couldn't stream and that was only for a couple hours. Sometimes I'll get some buffering in the late afternoon, early evening but I'm in a pretty congested area.

People who have full blown Verizon in this area were bitching about their speeds on their Facebook page. I'm currently around Quartzsite and Ehrenberg AZ and there are still a lot of people boondocking around here and tying up the cell towers. I pay 25$ a month

Visible phone hot spot and laptop, altho I can do everything pretty much on my phone. Visible data plan is truly unlimited, but can get sidelined when towers are busy. Verizon is my talk service. In Quartzsite I was unable to connect with any device reliably until the big crowds left.  -crofter

I read up on visible. Verizon owns it. They were losing customers over their high prices and no truly unlimited. So visible has unlimited through Verizon. They even offer it as a hot spot but if that option is used the speed is choked down to 5mps. It's a great plan for a stand alone phone. It's not fast enough for streaming unless you watch on the phone.

I'm running Tmobile. My 110 dollar plan is grandfathered in at 95. I'm unlimited worldwide on international plan. My phone is used as a hot spot. I'm currently running 25 mbs down load speed servicing 6 devices through hot spot. It's the fastest there is in cell phones.

I have no trouble streaming on my computer with visible. Shoot, I used to stream with the old 3g stuff just fine and miss it. I remember the speed cap being removed on the hotspot side. Guess I need to connect to it and try again:p

That's right B and C... Visible did remove our caps.

Does it have to be tethered or is it a hotspot?

Same here, but I do get kicked off from time to time. Not sure how much data I would be using if I was not kicked off. I am looking into a different type of connection.   -crofter

Wow! Thank you everyone for your responses. I didn't know I had so many good options. I will check out all of them.
