Halfway between L.A. and San Diego, halfway between I-5 and I-15. Semi rural, water, 10 amps of electrical, $200 a month and 20 hours of maintance work a month, what a deal, best I've found yet.

I'm in a little town called Bonsil, nice place. I'm working on the MH while I live in it, life is good!!!!

Sounds great, good on you and such a deal! I know the area, Bonsall, from when I was on assignment out that way, used to take the Palm to Pines Hwy, Rt. 74 from Palm Desert over the hill to 76 and Oceanside. For my tastes, SD County has one of the best climates in the world.

I love CA, I know it's a place that often gets knocked these days but I miss it 'cause to me there is no place like it: ocean, mountains, desert, forests.......the golden state (used to be anyway, ;-)

ATB,
I found it on Craig's list and there are several like it that showup from time to time. There are also several places east of San Diego about 30 - 50 miles off of I-8 that rent spaces in the $200 range.

I'm about two miles south of 76, and right now this is just what I need, space, power and close to the beach.

Good for you !! You're right, life can be good.

I want to be clear: you work 20 hours per month (that's five hours per week) and you PAY $200 per month for 10 amps and water only? Is there a shower? What do they charge if you are not working for them?

I gotta say in my 6+ years of full time RVing, this is one of the worst deals I've seen. What do they have you doing for only 5 hours per week? Most places are 20-24 hours per week for full hookup and 50 amp service and you pay nothing. Many will pay a small wage on top.

Unless you just want to be in that area I think you can do better.

Kevin,
This is Southern California and 10 minutes from the beach. Simple storage here runs $100 to $150 a month, a space with 30 amps and hookups runs in the $500 plus range.

So far work has been mostly checking and taging broken watering heads in the avacado grove. I figure for SoCal this is a pretty reasonable deal, I'm willing to trade time for money as I have the time and the work isn't hard.

Down by the bay in SD, RV parks are $1000+ a month. I'd be pleased to find a deal like that for the area and a great place to be it is, IMO. Anywhere they can grow avos is a little bit of heaven, only four places in the world outside the Mediterranean with that climate and that's one of them. Then there's the beach. Just keep smiling Corky.

:D

Plus I get all the avocados I want, fresh right off the tree!!!!

I also live in North County, Corky, and you found a good deal! SoCali ain't cheap, esp close to the beach.
I rent a rather ancient 5th wheel on a farm with parking for my rig. I pay $400/mo, utilities & wifi included. Hot shower, but the enclosure is pretty much outside (brrrr!)

The downside is, it's my boss' farm. I can't call in sick to work then bail for the weekend, and da boss always knows where to find me, dammit!

I haven't been there in over 30 years but the San Deigo area was one of my favorite places. Really nice people and weather similar to Pensacola's.
Unchained. I learned as a young man not to stay at the boss mans house. Not only can they always find you,but it seems that they never let you knock off work. And you/I never get paid for the "overtime" you put in when he/she wants some little thing done or fetched.

I THINK YOU got a reasonably good deal. The coast is pricey I can rent the bottom of my house for 1400. Live room bedroom w/walkin closet kitchenette dining area shower with a garden to look at and or support. 3 miles from the beach with really really cold water

Yup, you nailed it. Somehow he thinks that, because I live here, I'm on call 24/7.

Still, it's nearly impossible to find a single dwelling that is not made of cardboard for under $500/mo here, esp if you don't want neighbors right on top of you. For vandwellers, the slightly inland 'horse country' all along the SoCali coast is worth looking into for those who don't want, or can't afford to live in an RV park, but want a rented space.

@Corky- Have you discovered 'Village Pizza' yet? :D
