OK, my van is currently illegal. I bought the van in PA and transferred the tags from my former NH vehicle because I still had 8 months on the plates. I no longer have a NH address so I don't think I can renew. NH has very high registration fees. They also require an inspection and it's an 8 hour drive to get there. To register in PA I also need an inspection which I may or may not pass. I either have to take my passengers seat out or get a new seat base and belt for sure. I also have to get a PA drivers license before doing anything Total cost will be around $250. My other option is to register the van in Florida using my Mothers address. I can do everything by mail and get my license when I go there in January. The catch is a one time $225 initial registration fee in addition to the regular costs. It will be about $70 a year after that. What would you do and why?

If you are going to live in PA most of the year it’s only a matter of time you will get pinched with failing to register, inspection, drivers license, insurance fraud etc.

But in Fla in the winter there is no problem with PA plates because of the massive snowbird population.

do the mail in or online registration for NH...........keep in mind , you dont need a NH inspection if your not in NH for the year....its not enforceable outside the state...you only need it when you cross the border back into nh and you can just hit the first garage if need be.......do you still have your NH driver lic.

Yes, I still have a NH license. I didn't get a renewal in the mail or if I did, it wasn't forwarded from my former campground job. If I can do it online, great but will they mail the stickers to me in PA? LooRead, I'm actually not considered a resident in PA, my address is the campground where I work and I'm considered a seasonal employee. I'll be all over the country after October then back here in April for the next season.

Just checked the NH DMV site and they don't have an option for online registration. It says to take the renewal to the closest office, doesn't even offer a mail in option. Back to PA or Florida, or Kentucky might be an option, I'll be there for three months?

Since it's election time at the Florida Governors mansion..... Fl tag rates and lots of other "fees" are going down in August. Might be of some consideration. Not sure about the impact fee on a new tag ($225). It used to be $100 a while back.
Go renew.com if the FL DMV page.

PA is tough on inspections. Everything must work. No holes in the body. I'd do it in Florida. Use your Mother's address for everything. Use that as your permanent residence if you're ever questioned. Since you'll be floating everywhere it's good to have a place to call home even if you don't spend much time there.

Florida is they way to go if you are over 65 with a free fishing and hunting license plus ½ price on state park camping fees.

My cab corners have holes the size of your fist and I just got a new PA sticker last month.

Brakes, frame, front end wear and tires must be good.

Its not on the DMV Site.....go to the town hall site of the town you called your residence.....there you will find the online registration for renewal....but your stickers will be mailed to your NH address...they dont mail them out of state , someone here will have to remail them to you

But in Az our tags are still $27/yr, no smog test where we're registered and insurance is cheaper than many places :)
I don't think I can do any better anywhere else.

Hmmmm....mine was 378.00 plus inspection in NH........but my resident status gives me perks on my benefits and medical.....so Im pretty much giving them there own money!!!
