My name is Kody, and I live in Idaho. I'm 35 since January  I raise alpacas for there fiber and then spin it into yarn. I also crochet and dabble in website design.

I have been living in a large house for most of my life and I'm ready to downgrade and hit the open road. See America, feel some actual freedom. I bought a little Class C RV last year. She's a 1977 Dodge Sportsman Travelmate. She need a little love, and I'm hoping I can make it happen later this year. I am going to start renovating her this spring and summer and I should be able to get her together in the fall. I may try going south for the winter for a change. I hope there are people on here that know a thing or two about renovations, cause I could sure use some expertise help. I'm excited to join up with the tribe here and put my driving cap on and hit the road.

Welcome to the CRVL forums kodemore! I think you'll be pleased and surprised at the amount of renovating expertise some of our members have. When you run into a problem or have a question just ask!

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome, Kody! Lots of "conversions and modifications" of Class C's here too! You'll have to do some searching and reading up, but there's a lot, lot, lot of information here! Enjoy!

Welcome to the CRVL Forums   :)

I'm sure you'll find those here with the knowledge you need.

Consider taking some photos of areas of this vehicle you believe to be problems needing attention.
That would be the fastest way to get some feedback.

I'd suggest starting with the roof area.   Thus nailing down any roof leak problems so you'll be under roof (a dry one) and then addressing problems moving downwards.

Your rig reminds me of one my Dad owned.   Different maker but it was his first factory built RV.  We had always
worked out of Vans we converted for our recreation before that.   But his had a 318 V8 and he was going to
do some extended trips in it and lay over for some time and he thought it would be a better solution for his needs as it was self contained.

Welcome aboard Kody !
You hit the motherlode .
There are lots people here that can help you with your classC restoration !!!
Just ask anything , you'll get tons of help..

And the pics are very welcome and encouraged too.
Right now , everybody want's to see the inside of that rig.

That is a neat little RV....I wish they still made them like that, with the only bunk over the cab, and the rest of the floor space is seating, cooking, and bath.

Now days most any of the newer short Class C units have a full size sleeping area big enough for two or more, (plus an overhead bunk) and the floor space that it takes up is a big waste in my opinion, for one person. I'd rather have the living space, you know, sofa, galley, shower, all on the main level, and the bunk topside.

There are a few that come close, but seem to miss the mark...I've looked.

Anyway, good luck with the restoration, its a beauty.

Hi Kody, go to this website, and this thread in particular. Look for a guy that goes by "Griff in Fairbanks." He and a couple others there are the most knowledgeable folks I have seen when it comes to older C class Dodges, bar none.

PS, Griff loves to help out with Dodge Class C's. If he doesn't know it off the top of his head, he had access to a lot of data about them.
Yours looks to be about 23 ft?
Oh, and Welcome here from there. :)
