Wondering how others did this, thinking of just putting some u shaped brackets(2) lower and then higher up.(see pic for example of bracket type)

The telescoping pole would be removed for travel. Also since its a directional antenna, would drill hole in center of bracket, jb weld a nut to hole, then tighten bolt to keep pole\antenna from changing direction in wind. Pole is 18ft when fully extended, prob won't extend it past 12ft in windy areas. Know that I just placed bracket on hinge, it would be straight and with some bigger washers inside\outside to minimize metal fatigue. Also two brackets would be approx same distance apart as hinges are on door with pole sitting on bumper. Thoughts? Thnx.

@MrNoodly-thnx for the link. Nice informative blog post. That ladder rack you attached it to is sturdy. I like the electrical post you used. Thinking maybe I could use something like that as a "holster" of sorts for the telescoping pole. Then put the pole tightener thru that. Hmmmm...sounds easier to put up and take down that way. Holster(electrical conduit) permanent, pole removed when traveling. Thnx a bunch!

I bought a base that sits under the tire when I park
