Does anyone have experience with storing meds/vitamins in a van? I want to know because I may be spending many months in the Pacific NW and moisture will always be an issue. I know about damprid and cracking the windows but there are many more things to consider. Is there some sort of magical storage box that is resistant to moisture and heat and that would work long term? What kind of storage would it be? Both meds and supplements are very important to me and super expensive. I have never seen anyone ask this question here but I don't know of a better place to ask. Can anyone tell me specific experiences they have had and times when they have had to throw medicine away? What tips do you have? What have you learned that might ease my mind a bit?

Damprid will work in a small enclosed box. It won't help very much with moisture in the van itself.

My daughter has hearing aids and moisture is a big issue. Here is a video of the drying cup that came with her hearing aids. We have used this same system to keep meds dry while backpacking in rain forests (especially here in the Pacific North West).

While you are in the van, ventilation ventilation ventilation.

Never seal the space up with mammals inside, and especially unvented propane.

If you have a **vented** heating unit, stay outside a while and fire it up, keeping the living space at 100+° and ventilated.

Aircon can do the same when mains is available.

But best is get the heck outta there soon as you can.

I just left the Olympic Peninsula yesterday. The air was foggy, misty, drippy, nearly 100% humidity. Ventilation just brings in wet air. What's needed is a dehumidifier or to run the air conditioning. Or, as you said, leave. It's what I did.

Put your meds in a waterproof container with rice in it. It's been keeping my salt from clumping up for years in an open shaker.

This is a million dollar idea because it is problem all vandwellers have -- how to store meds long term while living on wheels and have them protected from various temperatures. I would start by asking a pharmacist.

I like the rice idea, but you can also get thermos bottles cheap at second hand stores. These seal tight and prevent wild temperature swings.

Great idea. I will research as thermos are all somewhat different- made out of different materials. Thank you.
