My ATT Mobley would not connect to the Internet for the last two days.  I could connect TO it from my laptop, did a reset in the sw, did a hard reset on the button.  No Joy.

This morning it's working again.  Weird, huh????

Anyone else recently have a similar experience?

Thanks in advance,

Pat

Mine is working fine, I'm using it right now.

My Nighthawk has connection issues more in the morning it seems. I guess everybody is getting and checking email.

In the middle of the day it seems to work fine.

My Mobley is going on 4 years old and other than the irritating 2 hour timeout, it's been working more or less flawlessly.

I did have one situation at a crowded state park in New Mexico a couple of years ago:

My Mobley and my smartphone hotspot were being hacked by someone at the park, I had to keep resetting them until I figured out what was happening....then I used my smartphone with a USB tether (hardwired) and the problem went away.

Someone parked nearby at the park obviously had some knowledge and the hacking tools to sniff around for free wifi and crack the passwords and admin codes....

All that effort to save a few bucks every month....jeeze...

Actually you can find a list of free password on many of the sites that sell the equipment. That is why they ask you to change the password when you first it up.

If you have to do a hard reset, it will restore the factory password in most cases.

I was not using the Mobley factory username and password, I know better than that.

I had my own passwords and network names, but the hacker obviously had hacking tools...password sniffing is a thing with some of those hacking programs from the dark web. Or maybe the Mobley has a 'backdoor'...it's possible.

Sounds all sci-fi but it is doable with the right programs and levels of skill. And whoever was attacking my devices obviously has the ability to do it to others...the difference here is that I KNEW it was happening because I monitor my devices for that type of activity, and I took action to stop the incursions.

When I went to Visible a while back I made sure to pick a phone with USB tether capability.

Yes, my phone had that feature and it was my fallback procedure as stated above. The Mobley does not have that capability.

There are two things that affect the 2 hour timeout. I just found the second one while I was out this time. Guess I had been lucky before.

Anyway, I bought this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0721RYJ9T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 power adapter that puts out 14 VDC so the Mobley thinks the vehicle is running. The first one I had didn't so when the 2 hour "update" took away the always on, never timeout, and this one fixed it.

The second thing I found was the Mobley's orientation plays a role. I keep mine in a cradle WeBoost all the time and it lays flat. When I first put it into use in Quartzsite, I was having the 2 hour timeout issue. I got an error later that said the sim was missing. I pulled and reinstalled the sim (what a pain) but the two hour timeout remained. I finally took it out of the Weboost and turned it over. The simple act of turning the other side down got rid of the 2 hour timeout. YMMV

Yep, they seem to have some way to measure voltage but I think they 'adapt' to the higher voltage...mine will only work that way for a day or so at the higher voltage then goes back to timing out.

Also, apparently some users have good luck on things like boats (in a marina) because the Mobley is getting moved around a bit.

I suspect there were a couple of different firmware versions so (and you can confirm this on other forums) some units respond to certain work-arounds and others don't.
