Okay, okay, we all know that MetroPCS is a 3rd rate company in terms of quality, cellular coverage, etc. However, that said, I helped a friend yesterday in setting up a pretty good deal. Thought I'd share this here for those who might be able to take make use of it.

She bought a new (previous generation) Samsung Galaxy S3 Android smartphone (not the new S4 phone which isn't currently offered at MetroPCS). After two separate $50 discounts (instant & rebate), the cost was approx $300 plus tax. She signed up for a new phone line and activation, and the monthly cost is only $60 monthly (including tax) for UN-limited everything (unlimited talk, data/internet, texting, plus roaming I think).

Pretty much nobody offers unlimited everything for only $60 monthly including tax! But as I said, MetroPCS has limited coverage so obviously you should check to see if your area is covered or not. The discounts offered are only for a new phone and new phone number activation. This unfortunately will NOT apply to an existing MetroPCS phone and phone number.

I then installed the 2 Android apps of Foxfi and PdaNet (one time fee of $7.95 through Google Play store) which then gave the Samsung S3 phone wireless tethering ability (without having to pay extra fee to the cell phone carrier). Now she can use her phone to emit a wireless wifi signal to give her laptop and tablet internet access!

I've already been doing wireless tethering now for some years, and my current phone of choice is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android phone by Verizon with unlimited 4G LTE. I also have the same FoxFi/PdaNet apps installed on my phone for wireless tethering. Technology is a wonderful thing!

MAJOR DISCLAIMER HERE: Everything mentioned in this thread is for an Android device. Will NOT work for an Apple iPhone unfortunately. That's why I can't stand using any Apple device, but that's a topic for another thread, haha!
