Thanks

I've been wondering about your rsp-750-15 weird voltages and your powermax's weird similar behavior.  Every try hooking the voltage sense wires on the Meanwell or have you given up on it?

I am not familiar with the pd9245-14.8, only the standard model which does only 14.4v.

PDs are nice because they are automatic, but with a push button manual override to  force it to seek and hold 3 different voltages.

The PD9245 I had for a project would seek 14.56v and would only briefly hold over 40 amps over thick cabling to a hungry healthy depleted Lifeline AGM, on grid power.  Other forums report that PD's maximum amperage on generator is well below expectations.

My Meanwell rsp-500-15 seeks at a constant 40 amps  and voltage I choose for as long as I choose.

Have never run it on a generator.
40 amps available until voltage approaches my chosen setpoint, then  amps taper.

I bet my Meanwell would outperform , to 80% and to 100%, a pd-9245-14.8 in side by side, all factors/variables being equal.

And with battery temperatures more than 20 degrees outside of the 77F range, the meanwell can be adjusted to compensate to prolong battery life.

I have recently acquired battery temperature data showing much higher than expected battery temperatures in my usage.  hot ambient temperatures and constant discharge/charging are keeping it 5 to 15 degrees hotter than ambient, always.

40 amps into an initially 87 degree battery for a half hour had me lowering voltages significantly as battery approached 100f, but I choose to at least approach 'ideal' for maximum battery life.

Actual battery temperature data has been an eye opener, and has me rethinking my high amp blasting in high ambient temperatures via alternator or meanwell.  Thankfully i can adjust voltage on both and thus indirectly amperage, and as always, i release flatulence, after a healthy garlic clam sauce  undercooked pasta meal, in the direction of charging sources marketed  'smart' and 'automatic'.

But the PD is one of the better converters.

I never tried hooking up the voltage sense wires because I would've had to cut n splice the Meanwells wires and if I did that I wouldn't be able to return it if I needed to .
So because of that and also because It wouldn't except my 4 gage cables I returned it .
I couldn't find a 14.8 version of the pd9260 so I started looking at the pd9245-14.8

I'm seriously thinking about buying the RPS-500-15 and then just let it charge for a little while longer.

I'm also thinking I could power It from a Honda 1000.
I'm not interested in the automatic portion of the pd but the charge wizard got my attention so I started trying to find more info on the pd.

I already am pretty familiar with the Meanwell 500 thanks to your new toy thread.
Thanks again tor all the info

Can I ask where exactly you found a pd9245 - 14.8 for sale?  Thanks.
At Best Convertor
I have a picture but cant get it to go up right now .
Memory prob I think

4 awg cables are not going to fit in the Meanwell rsp-500-15 either.

I have combined my Meanwell with my 25 amp schumacher sc2500a for 65 amps total.

But I only have on group 27 AGm battery and it does not take long before amps taper to 40 and the meanwell can take over by itself. I do have to crank the meanwell to 15.3v to get its full output in combo with the Schumacher, than manually back off voltage once the battery approaches 14.4 to 14.7v, depending on temperature and the location of the nearest locust.

Real sorry the rsp-750-15 did not work out for you. I thought it was a simple big brother to the rsp-500-15 and would do 60 amps as mine does 40.

I am not sure the rsp-500-15 will work on a honda 1000 at full output. I need to get my clampmeter over an AC wire when the meanwell is at max output of ~612 watts. I guess I could borrow a Kill a watt to check.

Looks like best converter has updated their website and is now showing 45, 60, 70 and 80 amp versions in 14.8v:

I'm ok with the fact that the RSP-500 wont except the 4 gage but since the RSP-750 puts out more amps I think  they should've made the 750 to be able to except bigger cables.
If the 750 excepted bigger cables and if I had the time to figure it out  I would've liked to get it working but since I don't have time right now I'm going to get something that's easier to work with.
The 750 did look like a nice unit if someone had the time to play with it.
