Does anyone here make music? Whether that be with an singing, playing an instrument or composing with a DAW? What do you play and where? Do you get inspiration from places you are at?

I produce electronic music. I have FL studio on my PC with a MIDI controller and Studio Monitor Speakers; along with a microKorg synth. I am only beginning to get the technics required to sound professional like the underground producers like Jaytech and BT.

I wish I was musical. I want to get a wood flute to try to play. I like lower tones. I will probaly have to get something off etsy from a flutemaker but without knowing the keys, I don't know what to consider. Any ideas?

Go to a Pow-Wow. Get a cheep one first and get a lesson. You will need a little training at first.

James AKA Lynx

I play guitar and bass at the church where I worship, but mostly bass. We've had other bass players over the years, and I think most are better than me, but they seem to have no "stay-power", if you know what I mean. They always seem to be looking for a bigger, fancier venue with a bigger audience to perform for....not good motivation for true worship.

I've been playing and writing music for over 40 years, but I don't publish anywhere yet....haven't had the interest in that. It's a bit like something I have to express and "get it out" now and then. Mostly gospel, but some secular/romantic, too. Not interested in "being discovered" or being a star, either. It's not the money or fame....it's something I was created to do.

I also found that I'm not the only one that uses music as a "mental enema"....other musicians I know have expressed the same thing about it to me. It's like we all go bonkers if we can't do it for any length of time, for whatever reason. Along that note, I've found that, when you find something (anything) you were made to do, you can still avoid or disregard it and do something else, but you'll never be satisfied or happy if you take that route.

I play and write music because I was created to do so, and there are other things I was created to do, but I've no real need to share all that here for now. Perhaps I'll see some of you at an RTR and we'll have some fun with this!

I played regular guitar to no great effect, got bored and needed a new direction. Made a trade for a kero powered camp stove (Optimus 111 for the stove geeks among you) in return for a 'cool blues cd'. Got, spun it and my brain exploded. A hairy guy by the name of Seasick Steve. How do I get that sound?!? A little more research and...well....here's my FB

www.facebook.com/NEDtheThreeStringGuitar Easy to build, easy to play, all good.

I play fiddle and cello. Turns out the further I get away from Texas, the better my fiddle playing is....or at least folks don't hear fiddle very often and are more appreciative

Dont know why my link him no work Ah well just search FB for NED the three string guitar and all should be good

mean time

I am not interested in being as mainstream as Deadmau5. I would feel my music is out there with just 10,000 people knowing my artist name. I also will be giving my knowledge and culture away in digital form on Soundcloud, YouTube, Bittorrent & other sites free to download & share. I despise the business model of physical CD's and 99 cent downloads. I believe in doing live shows where people experience my music, and that is something that cannot happen on a download or live stream. My artist name is Dignium and my website is http://dignium.net/. Soon I will be creating music and living my desire living semi-free* in a van.

*Sidenote not thread related: I say semi-free because I will still be subject to the laws of oppressive government, working for the system for Federal Reserve notes (which is about as federal as Federal Express), and being labeled as homeless, crazy, redneck or whatever term the mainstream media uses to condition people about those who desire to live a free life.

I'm a musician who doesn't play an instrument.

......iow, I'm a drummer!! :D

I've played in just about every type of band around. (except country...I like 'real' music!!)
Rock bands, a drum & bugle corps, a bagpipe band (that one was alotta fun!! very rudimental playing.), and I now play hand drums, like a subaki and a djembe. I usually carry at least one with me when I travel.

I love getting into small impromptu jams around a campfire with acouple guitars and a good harp player. Acouple good friends, a warm starry night, alittle wine....Mmmmm....it doesn't get any better!

oh, and I'm also pretty good on a didgeridoo!
