I am watching a live video  by attorney Steve Lehto and he mentions his love for the M35A2 2 1/2 Ton "Deuce and a half" military truck.  These standard transmission trucks can be purchased for $5000 (or more) but might need some work.  I am curious if anyone has converted one of these.  (In Fort Bragg, California, I saw a couple living in an old heavy military vehicle.  It was impressive.)

PS If this link is not good, I will post a working link later.

The link worked for me. I imagine LowTech will post as he uses military vehicles.

yes Low Tech drives one I believe that exact model. if he doesn't see this I will give him a heads up. highdesertranger

Not very efficient, or comfortable on the road, but would provide one heck of an off road "Overlander" build platform.

"The Deuce and a Half is a 2 ½ ton military beast with a 6-cylinder multi-fuel engine weighing in at over 13,000 lbs. The Deuce gets an average of 8-10 miles to the gallon with a 50-gallon tank with a maximum speed around 55 mph and can handle almost any kind of weather and terrain."
