image.jpgimage.jpegTheroadahead has made a move, yep me. My name is Sharon. Firstly thank you Bob for your warm welcome and words of encouragement. As I explained to him this is my very first forum and my first attempt at any kind of communication using social media and up until now I've been reluctent to accept as a new way of life for different types of reasons. So please excuse any errors. I understand in order to achieve my dream I must use it to my advantage. My dream has been a long time coming. I have spent hours and hours just imagining the people I'll meet and the sites I'll see. Although I'm very shy, maybe by partisapating in a forum I can build courage and gain knowledge for the road ahead. This is my first step to the wonderful day when I hit the road. I have no particular rig picked out yet,but I have plenty of specifics as to my wants and needs and that will help make the decision as to what's right for me.  My list has all the different categories that one would need to live comfortly and safely. Most all of the categories have back ups to back ups. Power, fuel ,water just a few no problem got it covered. Security plan has multiple layers of tactics including the mind set to initiate if needed. On the other hand things like auto repair and navigation are not in my wheel house, can't find my way out of a paper bag. I expect issues will arise that I would need help with. So until then I will continue to learn as much as I can and figure out the lagistics. For me this won't be just travel it will be my way of life, go slow with no particular place to go, see the sites, expirereance the life, be free and be me. Baby steps, but I'll get their. I still work full time, and quite a while to go, or unless my ship comes in, because unlike many of you working from the road in technology, well it's just not an option for me. I hope to make the RTR, I just hope I'm not to shy to mingle.

Welcome to the family.  I've been a member about a year and have learned a lot.   I think you'll find this to be a very generous and fair group.  A few squabbles from time to time like any family but a great forum nonetheless.  There is a women's only section here in case you hadn't noticed- you might find it answers many of your questions.   Also sections on the various forms of RVs from cars to Class A.   Good luck on your search and your travels.

Thank you. I like hearing those words, because I'm frightened I won't get the hange of things. I sure hope the kids play nice. No I did't see that section.

Welcome to the CRVL forums Sharon! Many of us have been where you are now - a little worried about making such a big change and a little worried about fitting into the group, I strongly encourage going to the RTR. You"ll meet so many helpful people and have a chance to see how each person has made different choices and found solutions that work for them. Many are just as shy as you so don't be afraid to talk to everyone. You'll get a warm reception.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Sharon and welcome. I like your face. I wish you all the best and think that you will meet some great people and make some awesome friends. Say yes more than no and have a blast!

Hi Thankyou  rv wandering for the welcome. Is there some designated spot for new peeps to gather? Do I  just walk up to some one and start a coversation, seems a silly question, but truly I have no idea how to do that. Additioaly I'm having some trouble I've read through the tips &tricks section several times and I'm just not sure I understand who is speaking to who. Another stupid question should I not be using my real name?

The RTR seems to double in size every year so there will be a lot of people ( don't worry the desert is large - you can camp off by yourself on the edge of the gathering if it's too overwhelming) There will be many newbies who are also wondering how to meet people so yes, just walk up to anyone and introduce yourself. This is a super friendly group. As long as you are courteous you'll be welcome anywhere.

The tips and tricks are addressed to all of the forum members. They're to give you an idea of how the forums operate but if you have questions about any of it please ask.

I'm not sure about your question about your name but if you'd like to change it just send a private message to one of the moderators.

Welcome and best of luck to you in your research and plans! I'm new too and plan to be at RTR as well. Lot of great info and helpful people in the forum.
