We were having problems with the electronic doors @ work.

A manager gave me a building key to open up in the morning
& let the other employees in.

These keys are usualy only given to managers.
I was extremely honored to receive the brass key if only for 1 day.

I'v been there a year & I'm starting to make head way.
I'm the receptionist but I also do work in the Finance, sales support & HR depts.

I've survived 8 people being laid off in 11 mos.
People with more & less seniority than me.
There's 22 people in our corp office with another 200 employees
world wide.  We sell computer chips.
We use to make them too but manufacturing got bought out.

The people that were let go were devastated.  U could see it on
their faces.  Usualy they were only given 20 minutes notice to clear out
all their stuf . .

- I told a co-worker I was editing one of my ebooks that I wrote &
he gave me $5 for an order of 2 books.  ($2 each plus tip).

I returned his $5 & told him go on amazon & leave me a review after
he's bought & read my books.
Good things happens in 3's right?

I can be laid off at any time but I can't think about that.
I can only work hard every day.

I'm also in negotiations with 2 boat captains to sail to S. Pacific.
My dream is coming true !

20 minutes notice from being let go to the time they need to exit?????? WTC is that???

That's just RUDE! I'd likely knock someone out if they ever did that to me. (but, that's just ME!)

on the other hand...good on ya for taking a step forward, not only in your job, but also in your future as an author! :)

I've been fired from a data processing job about 10 times.  Each time (except one) I was walked to my desk, and not allowed to touch my computer, just put my stuff in a box, surrender my id, and leave.  Yep, it's rough out there.  I could have easily done lots of damage, but that would be stupid.

I heard one Admin got 2 wks notice & on the last day
she wiped her hard drive so they had to spend a lot of time
getting her work computer operational again.

Basically any work with a computer you're usually given 20 mins notice
to clear out your stuff so you don't do damage &
your reputation is in tact.

I think HR is only allowed to give dates of employment &
cant say any thing about your character etc

While working for myself,I fired myself many times.I always re-hired myself when the beer ran out.
