As on 6pm I have 1999 dodge 3500!!! I'm so happy I can't even sleep!! (Broke buying the van but happy!!!) looking for some tips to help me out!! I'm just on paper right now but I really really want to make this one great dwelling ride !!! I have an idea for a table/bed that I've never seen before and I've been looking into dwelling for about a year now... Let's see if I can explain my idea a sheet of plywood cut into three PC. One large (table top) two smaller (seats) the seat slide out over the wheel wells for bench seats. Here's the part I'm not sure how to make work! I want the table top to slide out and move up... I have a few ideas but I would like to see what you come up with!!!

Congrats on the new ride! Can't wait to see what you do with it. Oh, and Hi and Welcome!! :)

Being new I'm not sure what/where the best place to post build threads would be could you help me out?

You could start by looking through the Conversions and Modifications subforum here: https://vanlivingforum.com/Forum-Conversions-and-Modifications to get some ideas.  Then start your own thread once you start building, so people can see what you do and maybe get and give ideas.  :)

Also, near the top of the screen, Bob has written up a bunch of blog posts from other members build outs, maybe you can get ideas there, as well.  Especially under the Other Conversions tab.  It's a drop down menu of bunch of different builds.

Tons of stuff on this website, I imagine you'll spend a while just looking around and soaking up the info.  Any specific questions, just ask. ::) This bunch is super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.

Best of luck!!

NHG99D, welcome to the CRVL forums!

There are plenty of conversions, here, on Bob's blog, you tube and websites. You'll spend hours looking at them all. Then you'll decide on a plan, and exicute it. A few months or a year later you'll see someone else's design and redo yours. My advice? Go simple and make it easy to change out. don't get too fixated on any one design!

This is the thread where people post their builds

Welcome from another newbie.
Congratulations on the purchase of your van. There are so many people on here with great ideas on how to do your interior that I'm sure will give you all the advice you need to make the van very comfortable.

welcome there is guy on here with an AWD Astro he is in the build section not sure of his name starts with an A...im ???something like that he had a great idea for a bed dinette like you are thinking he hinged it in two spots or more to move it up and down and used a magnet to hold it to the side wall in the up position. it is in the early post of his threads and if you read on he gets rid of it as he found he never set it up and set up another system but it was a clever design and worked well.

Sometimes, HOW you will use your van affects the best way to build it. Are you going to live in it full-time? Make short road trips? Boondock for free in the countryside or stealth park in a city?

There are so many builds with pics in the archives here, it will make your head spin. So I think Cyndi's advice to keep things simple at first is generally good, though you've been thinking on your needs for a year and the bed/table sounds like one of the results. I remember seeing a build where the middle of the bed rises to be a table... I think the person used a taller heavy metal support leg to raise it to table height. Sorry I cannot remember if it was someone here or on another site.
