The carpet glue seems to be hardening, I tugged on some loose edges and it seemed well bonded. I put all the deck hardware in place - wanting to find the holes and get a screw or bolt through them before the glue hardens. Lots of hand washing today - every step seemed to involve getting glue boogers off my fingers before they ended up on the carpet. Here's some pics of my panels as they continue to cure in front of the fan.

Looks great! You did a good job on that front deck.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. I don't want my friend pulling out newspapers every time she wants to bait a hook. Perhaps I'll toss on a 1/4 cup of waste oil and grind a shovel full of clay into it - the carpet version of getting that first scratch over with.bullfrog said:

So I really just had to chop a 1/4" off the 4 bolts and reinstall them. I also verified that no part of the seat is able to contact any part of the deck. I had put an extra chunk of carpeted 1/2" plywood under the deck swivel, and that seems to be the answer. Otherwise that seat would carve a circle into the carpet (!)
I also installed the hatch covers with hidden piano hinges. I re-drilled the holes in one wing of the hinges in order to center them on the 1/2" plywood. This also served to alternate the screws so that each proud screw head has its own place. I drilled pilot holes, and used #6 x 1 1/2" wood screws. They turned out real well. They fit snug, open and close smoothly, disappear when closed. I tested them about 100 times because opening and closing them feels so good. Here's some pics

[ATTACH=full said:26621[/ATTACH]Thomas pid='500142' dateline='1594684371']As my carpeted panels continue to cure in front of the fan, I realize that I should have made a test panel - a piece of scrap decking treated just like the real panels, but one where I can pull back another section of scrap carpet every couple days to observe the status of the carpet glue. Without it, I'm just guessing. I know that after shop vac-ing the water out of a carpet, a fan will dry it in three days - but then that water is not suspended in goop, so I'm guessing. I'll install the panels a few days before my friend returns, and just tell her to keep it covered this season when not in use.
Here's a picture of my nav light wiring. The wires that run through that ridge in the open section of the boat are covered with sections of 1" PVC cut in half and painted gray - they tuck snugly under the side ribs.
Here also is a pick of the transom mount and the Bill Blass style paint job. That transom mount is absolutely the ugliest thing I've ever made, and if it gets used regularly it will get much uglier. But it is plenty stout - I pull and bounce against it as hard as I can and can't get the steel to bend, so I figure it will support 40 lbs of thrust in some choppy water.
