Some of you now I did my schoolie build at my wifes home finished on the fourth of July and i have been staying in it next to her house tell I sell my truck to move on WELL...
The people around her home called the housing authority there saying my bus is an eye sore to the neighborhood and want it gone.

When im in the bus im very quit I keep the lights low with curtains pulled in the windows.    Theres all so heavy brush and trees between the houses.

People just cant stand to see some one living without debt.....

They say Im a bum an outcast a eye sore .
Im clean with nice cloths my bus is picked up every day I make my bed so if some one comes over and wants to see the bus I show it off
I love showing my bus !

As long as the vehicle is up to date on registration, it is legal to park on any public street. You may have to move it occasionally, but it is legal to have on the street. You could fight them on the whole issue, though your wife may not want that since she still has to live there after.

Beside that though, it is just part of the deal. We live on the fringes of society, and we just have to accept that others do not understand us, and fear what they do not understand. Nothing we can do to fix their biases, at least not quickly. Taking the path of least resistance may prove beneficial to you in the long run. Get more motivated and sell that truck. Then hit the open road and have a good time sooner.

Just a couple of thoughts. First, you might paint the bus a muted color. Some states only allow Yellow if they are truly used for school. Secondly, too late for this but, when I was visiting relatives in Newport Beach last Feb, I had my sister go talk to the neighbors across the street and tell them I was only visiting for a few days, and not living in my scary white van in front of their houses. They were appreciative of the courtesy.

Yes, however, there are ordinances against living in vehicles. But it sounds more like this is a case of no laws being broken, just the type of fussy neighbors who'd complain your Christmas decorations are still up on New Year's Day.

Some neighbors are good.

Some neighbors are bad.

And even good neighbors can go bad over stupid little stuff.

The problem with living in a house is you never know what you're going to get.

That is one of the main attractions of living in a mobile van/rv/trailer.

Don't like your neighbors?  Just move!

Yup, anything different from the norm gives suburbian posh folks the heebie-jeebies. Maybe you can park it on some public land nearby while you wait to sell the truck? As much as we may feel like sticking it to the man and demanding our rights, it's much better to give people a friendly impression about this lifestyle. If people don't want you there, just say sorry and leave. There's no use fighting it. It would only make us look worse in their eyes, which will ultimately come back to bite the community on the butt.

+1 for the post. To overly generalize, here are 4 types of people in this world. Two types on each side.

S&B Subtypes:
- NIMBYs
- mellows

Traveler/Vagabond Subtypes:
- those who figure they should always demand their "rights".
- those who try to find a middle path.

FWIW, I'm a big fan of old westerns on TV. My favorite was always Have Gun, Will Travel. Although Paladin almost always ended shooting someone, he always tried to find the middle ground **first**.

Thanks guys

My favorite was Branded with Chuck Connors He was judged by his broken sword and not the good man that he was
I can relate lol

Alas, many municipalities have ordinances against parking "oversized" vehicles on the street. Many homeowner associations ban "oversized" vehicles even in your own driveway.

Especially if it hasn't moved in what someone considers to be "a long time". People begin to think it has been abandoned or it doesn't run.

There are three separate issues.

Neighbors complaining is one thing. That alone may be enough to force you out depends who the wife sides with.

Then there's the applicable laws, many, most? places what you're doing is technically illegal.

Third is how do the authorities respond if you're legal and your wife's willing to fight.

They can always find a way if they really want to get you out.

There are some HOAs that ban pickup trucks and Jeeps. Too blue collar.

^^^^ Give some people a little authority, and it goes straight to their crotch.

A lot of suburban folks are stuck in a certain state of mind and won't accept anything outside of it. Their bodies are stuck in their wheel-less boxes too, so they lash out at anyone trying to escape, like crabs in a barrel. Tribe mentality at its finest.

And there's nothing wrong with being a "bum". Bum is just a stupid word with a cultural stank to it that they use for anyone who doesn't have a stationary box to crawl back into. I wish you the best. Your bus is awesome.

Yeah but they don't even know me bum it is a stupid word

Hay all I changed my name

This community it is illegal to park school bus on city street. Also rules about what is in your yard.

Well I forgot to say im on a tribe reservation they make up there own rules

Wow you must really be a bum 8-D

Would have thought they'd be more tolerant?

But if you're not part of the (literal) tribe, fair enough I s'pose.

Well, there's your problem. That white kid eventually grew and became the Leader of the Great Northern Tribe. Your local tribe saw the bus, and realized you're planning to escape forever.
