A FB acquaintance, long time FreeCampsites contributor ran out of gas 12 miles off the highway. It'll cost him $300 to have tow truck bring gas

You might try posting on the Expedition Portal website, asking off roaders in the area to provide assistance . Expedition Portal is the site focusing on owners of overland vehicles. The EP subscribers are quite helpful to people in difficult situations.
