Hi All,
Just a post to introduce myself. I'm a veteran currently living in a park model by the ocean over 2 years now. Previously owned a class C Winnebago when my boys were living with me. They're grown and gone now and I'm considering a truck camper as the itch has returned and the park model isn't easily mobile. Anyone interested in buying a fully furnished park model?

I've lived and camped all over the US with my boys so going it alone will be something new for me. This past weekend was spent at Echo Bay, Lake Mead with my grand daughter and youngest son. Short but fun weekend in the park.

If anyone has any input on the truck camper setup, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Especially ideas on make and models. I'm leaning toward a toyota truck with Artic Fox camper. I like the reliability of the toyota and the well insulated camper. I previously camped in Moab in a Dodge diesel with a pop-up truck camper and quickly decided it wasn't insulated enough for me. Too cold/hot. 4x4 is a must as I tend to wander off the pavement often. Towing capability is important as well as I might have a trailer or my sons jeep in tow from time to time. I used to have a 2012 Ford F150 crew cab, had plans to get a camper but the bed was too short and no 4x4. So I'm going to do it right this time. I hope. Looking forward to learning from everyone and contributing where I can.

Thanks to Bob for creating such a wonderful website.

it would help if you gave the location of your park model.

3/4 or 1 tons handle campers a lot better then 1/2 tons, something to think about. highdesertranger

Waving hi from Kansas!

Hi! I'm new here too; isn't this an amazing site? I'm just loving the articles! We have a Toyota Tundra which we love; going to check out your camper ideas-thanks!

Look for a camper without slideouts. The slideouts add way too much weight to the rig. Nothing but problems (2nd hand info, from good friends)

Welcome aboard PathofAsha!
There are a few here that are looking for a home base , is it on Lake Mead?

Welcome to the CRVL   :)

I'm sure you'll find other truck camper enthusiast here who will be a big help to you.

Recently I saw a photo of a pickup that had the bed removed and a VW Camper Van
with pop up top mounted to it.   It was set up for cross thru so you could enter the
living area from the drivers compartment.  Unique thing set up for off road.

Unfortunately I didn't get a copy of the photo to share.

I found the idea rather ironic at first and then it grew on me.

Thanks highdesertranger.

My park model is a 2003 Fleetwood 12x30 located in Encinitas, CA 2 blocks from Grandview beach. It's currently registered and able to be moved if needed. Anyone is welcome to PM me with further details.

1 ton would most likely be needed for my needs. I'd rather have a bit of overkill in this area.

Thank you rvpopeye,

The park model is currently in Encinitas, CA -mild weather year round. Walk to the beach.

That sounds rather interesting and inventive. Work with what you have.
