I have no car and that sucks. I can't seem to get to a van that I just saw on craigslist. Its about 30 miles from me. it seems the ones I want are the ones that are not close. I have no family to help. I have friends but I really dont want to borrow there cars/ It makes me nervous. One other option would to make appts for one day and rent a car out. Or maybe I should just sit tight and wait for something closer. I saw something last week the guy never emailed me back. Any suggestions?

Sometimes you can get the van to come to you. That's how I bought my last van (as I didn't have a vehicle before). I told the guy I didn't have wheels, but I can take a bus to XX spot, can we meet there? (happened to be a train and bus station) He readily agreed, and I ended up buying it.

Maybe think of a place near your house that you CAN get to, a store or whatever. and ask if they can meet you there?

Otherwise, rental or borrowing from a friend is probably the best bet, and try to do it all over 1 day or two. Some rental companies may have an 'overnight' rate, where you pick it up at 5 or 6, and return it the next day at 8 or 9 and it's significantly cheaper. I can't remember what company I did that with, but I did it once.

good luck!!

Thanks you two. I thought of asking my friends to take me but most work when I am off LOL. Im off at the moment on Monday and Tuesday. I do have a friend who is retired but she just had some surgery,so thats out. Believe it or not most of my friends(not a lot)do not have cars. I actually meet a lot of people on the bus or train. I like that idea Tara cause maybe these people also don't want strangers coming to their homes.

When I bought my van, I saw the ad on craigslist, called the dealership and told them if they wanted to sell it, bring it to me. They drove 100 miles roundtrip to bring it to me, I checked it out, then sent them back with it because I wasn't going to pay their price. After a couple of days, I called and they came down on the price and I agreed to buy it. They bought the van and the paperwork to me and we signed it all sitting on paint buckets in my garage. If they want a commission (or if an individual seller needs the cash), they will bring it to you. Don't feel like you have to pay their asking price though just because they brought it to you.
