I'll never be 'normal' so why keep trying?

@Spirituallifetime Cheers to following our passions and doing what we love! I'm so incredibly excited for the day to come when I get to sleep in my first van!

I'm looking forward to waking up on beaches, falling asleep to the sound of pouring rain hitting the roof of the van, crawling out of my van to see beautiful sunrises in the mountains, and meeting interesting people everywhere I go to!

Already this community has been so welcoming, I can't wait to meet you on the road somewhere!

Start thinking stealth living. And how will you rotate between parking areas to live in. Van dwelling and working in a metro area can be a challenge to stay below the notice of the locals. Do number crunching on what it would cost to pay to park in a unmonitored location. Compare to rotating spots were police might think poorly of you. It's a hard game to play.

@offroad - Stealth is definitely the way I'm planning to go! I want to be able to fly under the radar in cities and I have been downsizing the past few years, I think the transition would be fairly easy for me. Also the freedom of having wheels would make such a difference from having no vehicle at all for many years.

What exactly do you mean by "pay to park in an unmonitored location"? Do you mean an unmonitored public parking lot, or pay somebody to use their private driveway?

Kevin.j -- both!! You can check into either or possibility. Have read stories about people who rotate location daily, but that seems stressful. Why not search for place you can legally park for a whole month? Maybe farmer field. Maybe check with homeless shelters and ask where it is safe to park without cops bothering you. Expect to get no answer or poor answers from most. Seems to be a subject that is never discussed enough

You may need to be on a trial basis week to week with creative parking locations. Make it a rule to to always say you never drink and never do drugs to any potential parking land lords. --- am also thinking you might go talk to guys doing construction and ask where they park cheap. --- just throwing ideas out.

The best placed I have found so far :

24 hour gym.
24 hour retail / grocery store (not Wal-Mart.)
Industrial Areas
Wooded Areas (Off-Road)

Do people cover reflective material on cars when parking? It's so easy to jack light the woods and see reflectors on any vehicle parked.
