How to use the forums?

Hi. Is there somewhere here, that I can learn how to quote folks in responses and so on? Forum operating instructions, I guess. Maybe I should know this, or have noticed it, but .....

How about, when reading a thread of say, 5 pages or something, you would like to reply to someone in the middle, say page 3. Is it rude to cut into an established thread? Can you even do that?

Also, is there a function to subscribe to a thread without posting to it first? I see you can subscribe if you are posting.
