Be darned...it does work.
Got a few here to be discarded and fresh ones. Marked the old ones and started playing. Surface has to be real solid and your drop flat even. Kept me amused for a few minutes on a cool damp afternoon

Thanks for posting this link, BC Guy. I had heard of this... or should I say, I had heard of a way to check batteries, but could not recall what it was. Am always getting batteries mixed up. Just not organised enough.
Now for getting a tile on which I can check my batteries. Guess a mirror would work as well.
