We all have different needs, wants, budgets, space, etc. It is easiest to say this is what works for me and someone can look at all of the options to see if any can work or be adjusted to work for them. What would be nice is if the people commenting could list their systems that they have right now and how they use them so that we know they are coming from and not talking out their......
My system is like no other that I know of and I use it in ways that I was told simply would never work. I do not think any one else should copy it but rather see it as a example of what is possible even though the talking heads say it isn't because they read it on the web someplace. Then again that is the difference between designing, building and actually using a system verses reading and talking like you know what you are doing. Believe me, pushing the button and seeing what happens is better than any you tube, forum or blog post.
So quite possibly when people are arguing why what works for you will not for them, they are really trying to say what does work for them and why. (or at least read what should be what they are doing)
Oh and on power tools. Battery tools are convenient for little jobs that do not last long. On bigger, longer lasting jobs nothing beats a corded tool. More power and they do not have a battery to run down. That and I do not believe there are battery table saws.
