Speaking of eating stuff that doesn't require cooking or refrigeration...  Has anyone had this?
I've been eating a lot more canned tuna and recently ran across this stuff at Costco.  I haven't tried it, but it seems like a decent idea.

Does anyone have experience with canned chicken breast?

If it's any good, it seems like it could be a nice way to add a little protein to pasta or a sandwich or the like, and not have to refrigerate when stored.

I have eaten the canned chicken from Costco plenty of times. I like it. I have done, chicken noodle soup, chicken and dumplings, chicken pot pie, and chicken salad(spread) with it. ***** 5 stars out of 5 for me. highdesertranger

6 oz can of cooked chicken breast, drained, mixed with a spinach salad, cranberry vinaigrette; a staple.  I also get canned fully cooked beef, pork, hamburger to use in a salad (these have to be heated).  Canned tuna mixed with mayo in a salad is great also.

Pie Irons make mmmmmmmmmmmmmm , jelly donuts !

Been eating canned chicken breast for years , a bunch of ways to go.
Rice , spaghetti , rotini , beans , soup , salad , on and on and on..........sometimes just eat right out of the can with a pickle chaser!
Always have 5 cans in the can cooler (how I store all my canned stuff) .

I like to cook for others. I seldom have to buy food because other campers want me to cook for them and they supply the food. You can do this on a little Coleman grill if you want to. I don't do the clean up either when I cook.

I'm gonna start camping near you, once i'm on the road!  Supply food and clean up in exchange for hot meals.  Can't beat that deal.  Plus i'm an odd duck and have always liked cleaning things.

Even though I'm not on the road yet, nor even have a vehicle, I've been trying to really cut back on eating out as much as possible. What has helped me the past few months, is to limit my choices for breakfast and lunch. It may sound crazy, but I eat 5-7 bananas per day (eaten when spotted=no constipation). I've been mostly making smoothies, adding a little cocoa powder and it's quite delicious! Knowing ahead of time that breakfast doesn't change has helped surprisingly...less choices less to think about. Then eating fruits and veggies throughout the day and drinking lots of water gets me to dinner. That's always been tough for me where I want to eat all junk, fast food in sight! But compromising with foods i like such as bean burritos with cheese (refried beans are about $1 per can) with salsa/hot sauce. Also, baking some potatoes are inexpensive and tasty...on the road maybe you could use the grill, or boil first.

I also like hummus with pretzels for a snack. Maybe little English muffin type pizzas? Oh, I love food!!! :)

When I was still van dwelling it and didn't have luxuries like a 3 way fridge or a two burner stove, I had a 12V Igloo cooler, an old Russian Gasoline stove, (Gas is alot cheaper then white gas.) a few sets of German army utensils, a cheap Stanley pot set, a Coleman camping dinnerware set, and a cast iron pan.

To keep myself from eating out more then once a week, I would carry only stuff that I didn't have to freeze:

Tortillas
Cans of black beans, corn kernels, rice, peas, Tampatio hot sauce (Makes for yummy veggie burritos) chilli, soups, etc etc
Onions
Russet, or Red potato
pepper (Anaheim)
Ramen
eggs
bread
pasta
Salami
Sliced turkey
mayo, mustard etc
sliced cheese

I would only buy meat like steak, or chicken when I was going to cook and eat it within a few hours. I still have a few cans of spam sitting around. I don't know why but once in a long while I just get a craving for BBQ Spam slices.
