Today is supposed to go up to 97F (Pacific Northwest!), and seems well on its way.  Somehow, I started thinking about making a solar oven.  Usually, they are made with rigid foam insulation, but I've heard some negative stuff about the foam heating up and give off toxins.

I was wondering if anyone had made one using rockwool (Roxul is one brand) for the insulation?

What about vermiculite?

In a solar oven, (not a cooker) the inner chamber is to be sealed so that it retains the heat and moisture. You could also seal the foam in heavy plastic wrap. Also I am pretty sure one of mine use fiberglass as insulation around the black metal insert.
