I've decided after years of dreaming about it to finally get things together and try to make a go at living on the road primarily in an RV. My preference would be something small, but I have three growing kids and want us all to enjoy our time inside as well as out, so will end up initially getting something larger than I'll want to use in the longrun should I keep it up. I'll be scouting out locations now as well as the occasional RV park when I want to connect water and power. I'm looking forward to the adventure and maybe finding a small circuit that I can travel while I work and explore the area with friends (post-pandemic) and family.

Welcome bombadil to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome bombadil - are your kids still in school learning? There are a few good videos on here of families that are homeschooling while on the road I think it must be one of the best ways of educating children I’ve ever heard of.

Thank you for that link. It definitely got me thinking more about how I manage resources while out and about. Much appreciated.

Welcome!
That sounds like an adventure with three kids!

Yes we're all getting pretty excited! I'm picking up the RV next week and will park it here at our house while I get things setup and ready for travel. Long story but I actually won't have them full-time in it as I'm a divorced parent, but my ex and I get along very well and she'll be living in the house I'm currently in with them while I take them out on adventures every other week or so. I'll be in it full time and plan to try to camp for free while I'm solo and just need the basics. When I have my kids I'll be looking for places I can hookup and not be as concerned about resources and comfort.

Yes all school-aged and definitely still learning (me, too for that matter :D ). I'm a college educator myself and since all of my classes are online now it was yet another reason I decided to take the plunge and go mobile for a little while. I won't have the kids 100% of the time though and they're currently all doing remote school which I'm hoping will be mostly feasible while on the road -- if not we'll definitely just go the pure homeschool route.
