Sorry to be the one folks, but Hwy 1 near Carmel is closed,  They got a bridge out.  Up to a year closure.

Carmel is, per capita, one of the richest communities in California, if not the country. I doubt that it will take a year to get it repaired. Here in WA, an oversized truck hit a local overpass, and they said the damage was bad enough to keep it closed for six months to a year. It was the main access to WalMart. The workers in WM were saying that business had dropped dramatically. A steel support structure was in place a week later.
