With vehicle prices so high right now, this seems like a tough sell as a lower-income option. I am looking at vans but can't afford what I am seeing. How do lower-income people get into their first van?

Buy a good used van - either service or conversion. Consider how many will occupy the space, and remember it is primarily a bedroom - you live outside. Bigger is not always better or necessary. Planned correctly a minivan can be as comfortable as a bread truck.

Consider other body styles when starting out.

I started out in a 4 wheel drive pickup with topper- what I had at the time. My "RV" qualified at my first camp host job.

Some people also use cars.

It takes time and patience. Even with the market being what it is, there are still good deals to be found. Save money and look often. I was on the lookout for 6 months before I found my van.

My son found a van on accident, he was driving through a small town, when he stopped for lunch he read the local ads for used vans. Needs tires and a few other common maintenance done. But overall a very good deal. Just an idea. Google is not always the answer. 🤣
