Hi there,

I am planning on moving over to BC Canada early next year 2017. I am looking on Kiji and Craigslist for vans to get a feel for the market. I am struggling to find high top vans. What models of vans are High-Top in Canada?

Thanks

hi top vans are just that a van with a high top Canada used to crank out a lot of Fords and I have seen a lot of Ford High tops, the one I had was a
small transit company shuttle. It had high miles but was fleet maintained and diesel. check auctions when vans age out they just want them gone to make room for the new model Welcome aboard

Yeah I am after the models of the Vans though. e.g econo vans or Supers. Its hard to search the Buy Sell pages when the vehicle models are different to the vans in New Zealand.

Thanks

let me try. high tops do not come from the factory with the tops installed. some dealers offer them but they still are a regular van that is subbed out to an installer that installs the high top or a van owner takes it to the installer and has it done. any of your big three manufacturers can have high tops. have you tried a generic search like "high top van" or "3/4 ton high top van" highdesertranger

high top vans are fairly rare because someone bought a van then paid good coin to get a high top installed so the van would serve some purpose so they keep them until completely dead, best bets would be camper van and gut it then rebuild or wheelchair van, once in a blue moon i will get something listed under high top and most of the time they are tv tops/conversion vans

The Sprinter, Ford Transit and Nissan NV are all factory made hightops. The new Dodge Ram may also be available as factory made.

I think the newer generation of Vans are going to be offered with various roof heights.   The fiberglass add on's of the 90's and early 2000's have proved popular to businesses and aftermarket interest for camping and tourism.

Roofs at 7' to 9'.  These are all factory now as I understand.

Unlike almost anywhere in the world vans that "ARE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" are usually not a direct threat to the offerings here. In other words the rest of the world has a broader choice of size fuel and configuration, we are stunted by the big 3 in choices. I have seen vans in Canada that you WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE ACROSS THE BORDER AND REGISTER IN THE USA.

wagoneer.....how did that high mileage transit van work out for you? Meaning mostly the chassis, doors, seals, diff, hoses, lines, etc.

However, there are Sprinters (sold by Mercedes, and formerly by Dodge and Freightliner), Ford Transits, Ram Promasters and the Nissan NV that come with low and high roof options. The advantage of these is that the top is steel instead of fiberglass and that there isn't a joint that might leak. The disadvantage is that they're expensive because those vans are relatively new.

You can add a top from Fiberline to just about any van. http://www.fiberine.com/GVMR/Home.html

It was a 2001 extended length E350 with a 7.3 diesel I sold it at 224k running strong and sure minor problems but no real issues.
