I have seen two high top minivans recently. I thought they looked a bit odd, but am wondering if that might be a good idea. The obvious advantage is the ability to stand upright, which is starting to sound better and better to me as I age.

Does anyone have any experience with a high top minivan? Or does anyone have any strong opinions, advice, or thoughts?

Thanks!

I test drove one. It's a four cylinder engine and has no power. I passed on it because I envisioned lugging up a mountain pass, loaded down with gear.

Fast forward two years, I recently bought a small trailer. My E-150 will tow it. Now I'm really glad I have the larger van.

A minivan has a lower roofline than a full-size van so I wonder if the average adult could stand up in one, even with a hi-top?

Thanks for the comments!

I am only 5'2", so I don't need that much height, and my understanding is that there are different types and heights of high tops. Good point, though, if my goal is to stand up and the minivan roof is too low, it's a moot point.

I dont think you would be able to stand up... I just make it in my full size van with a 24" top, and I'm 5'10"... I guess you need the specs of the cargo space before the top

Thanks for the link, daminc.

Just when I think I have all of the answers, somebody changes all of the questions. Oh well--this is not a decision or purchase I'll be making today or tomorrow, so I've got time to think...and get good feedback from this forum.
