I used to be a hardcore computer gamer...as in 6 or more hours everyday, to the point that my dreams were lived in the last game session. It was great fun, totally rewired my hand eye coordination for the better, and exposed me to a vast world of feelings and information. Over the last three years, it has tapered down. I still think about Fallout and Oblivion (Role playing games), but the rest are under the table. I do not like much violence anymore.

So, last week, on a whim (and I get whims like crazy), I stopped at the PC software section in Wallies while on a shopping trip for some items (forget what they were).

I was counting on there being some very cheap software titles, and as I do not have a super streaming bandwidth plan, I had to chose from physical software, which costs more usually.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of $10 Hidden Object games. I had never ever played one before because they are usually marketed to a totally different segment of the gamer world than the one I lived in. They are marketed towards women!

And I wish I had found them earlier, because they are GORGEOUS! Yeah, the title I picked up (and I plan to get them ALL, for a total of about 20 games....months worth of happy gaming) revolves around the Frog Prince and his commensurate fairy tale lovers...but it is very adult.

http://www.bigfishgames.com/download-games/genres/15/hidden-object.html

These games having movie cut scenes, animated scenery and puzzles, creepy music, and are truly atmospheric. The scenery and objects are super high quality, and I enjoy just letting my mind absorb the beauty of the Frog Prince's underground palace.

I figured some of you might enjoy these low-stress, but fantastic games.

Is 'Leisure Suit Larry' still around?

He is starring himself in a new game:
https://www.replaygamesinc.com/

You can easily find the older ones to torrent or fileserve.

I have seen the entire collection in a torrent.

I believe ebay and amazon have his games as well.

I expect to be doing quite a bit of classic gaming via emulators. They sell small android devices now that can replicate a tablet through your tv via a USB connected keyboard/touchscreen combo that you can get for around $100 plus $20 for the keyboard, and can act as your Netflix/Amazon/Streaming box as well using the existing Android apps. I plan to use a USB Hub and a couple wireless xbox 360 controllers to play as often as possible. Combined with an external USB storage drive and XBMC (Xbox Media Center) you can have an all-in-one media solution (including emulators and roms) that will stream stored movies and music from the hard drive or the internet.

I do hope to eventually snag a gaming laptop so that my fiance and I can continue our gaming obsession. She's big into the Sims, and I'm big into just about everything, but mostly tactical shooters.
