Hi, my name is Dave and I live just north of Boston, MA. I am not van-living as of yet, I've been researching and dreaming about all of this for a while now. I was wondering if there was anyone within a 60 mile or so radius of Boston that would like to meet up for coffee or food or something ??? I'm a bit far to join Bob on his RTR, but I would love to meet and talk to some real live people face to face that think the same as I do. I guess even if you don't want to meet, anyone in the area can respond. It would be nice to talk to someone from the area to know how to deal with area specific issues such as the cold in the northeast winters, city stealth dwelling, etc. Thanks, looking forward to meeting folks!

Oh, by the way, not that I am not interested in conversating with all the rest of you!
By no means am I a north east snob.
Nice to meet all of yous !!

Hello and welcome! You're a friend here - in any location.

Like you, I am not going to attend the RTR although I would like to. When I first started living in this van, it seemed like going to Arizona was a "must do" kind of thing. With gas being what it is, one Arizona trip would cost a whole summer of fishing trips. We're in the same boat in that regard.

That's the nice thing about this lifestyle. Whether you live in a motorhome or on a motorboat, in a Chinook or a Chevy van, it's that love of the outdoors that gives us so much in common. There is no one solution. Bob pointed that out eloquently in his book. Each person's work, what they drive, how they eat, where they shower, and how much and how far he/she is able to travel, makes every situation unique. Quartzsite probably couldn't handle every one of us... They'd have to create a new state.

Chances are, if you are curious about being a vandweller, you are halfway there. A willingness to learn about this lifestyle - that openness - is a trait that will help you greatly. It just gets better and better every day.

Again, welcome!

VT
